The Old Brewery

Despite the skepticism of many, we took on the challenge of reviving the 140-year-old brewery. It definitely required a lot of optimism and naivety, but from the beginning, we both believed in our 'treasure', even though time had taken its toll on the brewery.

In 1879, the brewer Wilhelm Kaufmann constructed the half-timbered building. A few decades later, it was expanded to produce the popular brown beer "Puparschknall". Brewing operations ceased in 1968. Until May 2004, the building had various uses such as an LPG warehouse or drinks store.

We fell in love with Sleeping Beauty and in 2020, we started envisioning an exciting future for the building.

After the refurbishment, the historic half-timbered structure will emit a distinct sense of comfort and a special atmosphere. Our goal is to maintain the original character of the former brewery building, particularly the gable roof with two hop drying floors, the chimney, and the kiln windows. We aim to design an industrial loft interior for the building, with a notable feature being the visible brewing kettle from the staircase.

The lodge will offer 14 double and family rooms and will provide essential facilities for mountain bikers. These facilities include washing areas, drying rooms, workshops, and charging stations for E-bikes.
